First
UMC has a long and rich history that dates back 217 years. It is a
great church reaching out into all areas of the community's life in
vital ministry. In November 2001
the
church received the Governor's Award for Volunteerism as a result
of the church's work with Rohanen Junior High School. The church has
been involved with this school since 1998 tutoring, proctoring and
providing Christmas gifts for less fortunate students. We pray for
and send cards and gifts to teachers and staff members during the
year. We assist with the schools projects and help buy clothing, shoes,
and uniforms for the students.
Another
way we reach out into the community is through a live TV broadcast of
the Sunday morning worship service. It is re-broadcast on Sunday evenings
at 7 p.m. and ministers to many in the community who are unable to attend
church. At the heart of our reason for existing is the desire to glorify
and bear witness to the love and grace of God given to us through Jesus
Christ. We invite you to visit with us whenever you are able or whenever
you are in our area. A map to our location is located in the visitors
section of our site.
